Vénus | Venus

Quercus suber; 2H; 50; Monges
(Vénus dos Monges)
100 x 160 cm
Óleo sobre tela - Oil on Canvas

In the summer of 2012, I found, at Herdade dos Monges (Vale de Mós), a cork oak that turned out to be a Venus, by Botticelli, Ingres, Chassériau, Duval, Bouguereau, among others.
I chose the middle area of the board to draw the torso. A compositional structure common to all the works of these names I mentioned.
The strong light of Venus, in contrast to the darker tones of the landscape stain, is a reference to Chassériau's Venetian way of resolving carnation.
Then comes the twinned gesture of the spatula and the brush.

Good morning, Lady!

Tell me what you expect for today
You sitting there in the eyes of the painter.
Eternal complicity.
Where is your soul?
Over there, caught in that painting?
Where is it?
Eternal century.
Are you guessing your life or mine?
Those who met you knows ... did you know?
You never going to respond me, Lady?
The answer is in the colors of the inks.
They are what remains of your young body.
Young flesh doomed to decline.
Young look to the painter,
Condemned to eternity.
Lady, I look at you!
I look into your eyes ...
And I find your soul!

Bom dia Lady!

Diz-me o que esperas para hoje,
Tu aí sentada nos olhos do pintor.
Eterna cumplicidade.
Onde está a tua alma?
Ali presa naquele quadro?
Onde está ela?
Eterna de centúria.
Adivinhas a tua vida ou a minha?
Quem te conheceu sabe…sabes?
Nunca me vais responder, Lady?
E descubro a tua alma!

Clown with wings

I am your silence ...
I am your whisper ...
I'm the one who you close in your hand
when you look on the other side
from the dark street.
I'm the clown who keeps your wings!
That defends it with teeth and nails ...
Nails born of the hand that holds you ...
Teeth that glow in the  laughter of the dark street.
I'm the clown who has wings!

Palhaço com asas

Eu sou o teu silêncio...
Eu sou o teu sussurro...
